What God Revealed about Creation

God, Adam, creation

I think human nature has been totally confused by the darkness Lucifer spread contradicting everything God has revealed. So sometimes it is helpful to recall what God has revealed and make a fresh start on our journey toward truth.

Before He created the universe there was only God.  He always existed and there was no conflict within Him.  He revealed that He is love itself and He is three persons in one God.  Those three persons love themselves and they love each other.  The Word and the Holy Spirit always do the Father’s will.  It was like that for all eternity.  There was nothing but love and harmony before God created anything.

Creation of Angels and Humans

At some point, God decided to create everything – the universe, the planets, living plants and animals, human beings and spiritual angels.  God blessed angels and humans with free will and intelligence.  Intelligent beings should realize that since God created them, he has a right to expect their love and obedience.

But some of the angels chose to disobey God.  Many theologians believe their disobedience was the sin of pride.  Because these angels felt they were superior to man, they refused to worship God incarnate as Jesus Christ – God made man.

Fall of the Angels

Lucifer was the leader of this disobedience and rebellion, and this was the first occurrence of anything contrary to God’s will.  Since God is good, anything contrary to God is evil.  Lucifer’s rebellion is the first occurrence of evil and Lucifer is the source of evil.

But God has a plan for all He did.  If a sovereign being, of his own free will, decides to comply with God’s will, he has a dignity unavailable to someone not blessed with free will.  Because Lucifer, of his own free will, chose to defy God, he offended his creator very much, and his defiance of God’s ultimately brought chaos to God’s creation

Michael and the good angels expelled Lucifer and the rebellious angels from heaven.  No longer permitted access to the angelic heaven, these fallen angels were exiled to earth (or maybe, more correctly stated, to the physical universe).

Fall of Man

The world, including the Earth, I think, was compromised because of the rebellion of Lucifer and the angels who joined in his rebellion.

When God later created the first man, Adam, God put him in The Garden of Eden to work the garden and take care of it.  He told Adam “You are free to eat from any of the trees of the garden except the tree of knowledge of good and evil. From that tree you shall not eat; when you eat from it you shall die” (Gen 2: 16-17).  Then God showed Adam the animals and birds he had created and asked Adam to give them names.  Then God created a helper suitable for Adam, the woman Eve.

The Garden of Eden

I tend to think the Garden of Eden was created special by God.  Maybe it was not affected by the rebellion of Lucifer. It was like the whole Earth would have been if Lucifer and his brood had not rebelled against God.

God was very good to the first humans.  The Garden of Eden was a special place where nothing compromises the elegance He wanted the whole world to display.  But Lucifer straight away tempted Eve and she offered the fruit to her husband.  So both of them, and also all their progeny, entered into Lucifer’s rebellion, and that elegance was lost.

Initially, God conversed directly with Adam and Eve.  After they rebelled, however, all the  elegance was lost.  Adam and Eve realized they were naked and they were afraid and hid.

Lucifer’s Lie

Adam and Eve had already been told by God “Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all the living things that crawl on the earth” (Gen 1:28). So I think that Lucifer by taking the form of a snake and moving upon the Earth, had thereby placed himself under the dominion of the woman and her husband.  Lucifer was far too powerful to be subdued by them, but, nevertheless, they were given authority to rule over Lucifer.

The name Lucifer means bearer of light. But Lucifer, instead of teaching Adam and Eve about God, lied to them about God’s command not to eat the fruit.  So Adam and Eve (and through them all their progeny) entered into the rebellion.  Through succeeding years all human beings display this rebelliousness in their mental attitude and in their actions.  They are burdened with concupiscence, the innate reluctance to submit themselves entirely to our Father’s will and discipline their now unruly passions.  And the world is no longer conducive to their comfort.

Where He placed Humans among What He Created

Humans are elevated above all other physical beings and above all animals because humans can think and choose.  God also originally bestowed humans with physical immortality.  Adam was also created to be the patriarch of the whole human race and Eve was intended to be the matriarch.  But they chose to listen to Lucifer.

Had Adam and Eve defeated Lucifer in his attempt to seduce them, the whole world would have remained the pristine paradise our Father wanted in the first place.  Adam and Eve and their progeny would have dwelt in that earthly paradise for all eternity. But since Lucifer misled them and they succumbed, God punished them and all their offspring with death.  They would also have a tough life trying to maintain their health and a difficult struggle with temptation by Lucifer and his brood of devils.

God Promised a Redeemer

But God promised a redeemer, someone who makes remedy for all human offense against Him and wins redemption for all humans.  This Redeemer was authorized to be King and Savior of the human race.  Lucifer will strike at his heel, but he will crush Lucifer.  The woman’s seed, the Redeemer, defeats Lucifer and becomes the true Light of the world.   The Redeemer is first among all creatures that God has created, and first above all humans and all angels.  And, of course He will punish Lucifer for his defiance of God.

So, a cosmic war was inaugurated.  It is being fought principally by rebellious angels, whose intent is evil, against God whose will is good.  And all humans are caught up in this war.

The Present State of this War

This war against God has taken many twists and turns throughout history. Lucifer knows he cannot defeat God so he directs his venom against human beings. He knows, if he can incite humans not to believe God, he can also influence them to refuse obedience. Perhaps Lucifer thinks with humans refusing to obey God, He might give up on them, permitting them to fall under his influence.

I think one of Lucifer’s tactics today is to twist the theory of evolution to claim that all life on Earth evolved from simpler forms beginning with an organic residue naturally occurring in swamps. If this explanation is true, then God did not create man.

There is scientific observation that some life forms gradually changed into other life forms. Fish and birds, for instance, are observed to morph into other species of fish and birds.

But there is no observation of an animal evolving into a human being. In fact, The Catholic Church, in explaining what Genesis revealed, is emphatic that all humans descended from a single pair: Adam and Eve. The human race is monogenetic, that is, there is only a single ancestor: Adam.  And somehow God created Eve from Adam’s rib.  Nevertheless, scientists are constantly coming up with other species of man.

Science today agrees that there is only one species of man: homo sapiens. But in ages past, paleontologists hold that there were nine species of man.  Eight of these species are now extinct: homo habilis, homo erectus, homo rudolfensis, homo heidelbergensis, homo floresiensis, homo neanderthalensis, homo naledi, and homo luzonensis.

Conclusion

The world, subverting true science, postulates these eight extinct species to allow for evolutionary steps to becoming human, like missing links.  There are, however, no evolutionary steps described in Scripture. If there are missing links, this makes God out to be a liar. This falsehood about the origin of man is destroying the faith of many.  And it will get those who believe it into trouble with God.

Don’t risk your own salvation believing this.

  2. Very interesting and a good summary of Genesis, thank you. Just one point I disagree with. Where you say “There is scientific observation that some life forms gradually changed to other life forms…” Well, I would challenge you to show me just one observation. There are only speculations of those who want to hide God’s action in the process of creation. There is no evidence whatsoever that one specie mutates into another. The fossil record only shows complete species, not half species at all.

    1. Hello Fernando, and Len,

Thank you for reading my essay, and thanks for your requests for me to show you how birds are actually observed changing from one species to another.

First of all. I want to assure you that I don’t believe everything scientists say. We all know that each animal species is unique. Animals usually mate within their species. Cross breeding between species seldom occurs.

At this point I want to ask “what defines one species from another?” Linnaeus, the father of taxonomy (The classification of animals) set down the basis of animal classification in 1735? How does he know how to differentiate between one species of animal compared to another? The answer is he does not know. He offering his best guess.
That’s how theories are built up. Other scientists build up on that original guess until, finally, after many years and the opinions of many observations, the hypothesis takes shape and scientists have a full-blown theory.

Some theories are very reliable. If NASA want to launch a rocket ship to a specific location on Mars, all they have are the theories of celestial mechanics and propulsion and gravity. Since their rockets actually do land on Mars, we can assume those theories are true.
But many theories are not as verifiable as that. Taxonomy is not so easily verified by studying animals. Because: who know what differentiates one species from another? Only God knows.

Some theories, like evolution and classification of different animals. can become easily derailed and politicized and wind up as a very poor guide to recognize what we see in nature. Evolution, especially Darwinian evolution, is used for political reasons to combat belief in God by the general public.

Many scientists believe in God and do not argue against His existence as those with a political bias do.

So, to answer the question, here is a link to a study of birds evolving very quickly, https://www.allaboutbirds.org/news/how-juncos-changed-their-migration-behavior-and-plumage-in-a-matter-of-decades.

This article frequently mentions evolution and, in the 4th, last paragraph actually states that one species of barn swallow evolved into another species in a matter of a few months.
The same misunderstanding of the actual world is even worse with the ancestry of man. But in this case, we have the revelation of God, the creator and His Church, to explain, guided by the Holy Spirit. Several Popes have defined a correct interpretation of Genesis in clarifying that there is only one species of man, all humans have descended from the same original pair, Adam and Eve.

Never-the-less, science has described nine species of man all in the genus Homo (which means man). Only one is living today Homo sapiens, but the other eight are extinct. I think they ardently desire eight extinct species because that could support the unproven existence of missing-links.

Be very careful what you accept about evolution. God revealed, and the Church affirms, that there is only one species of man.

And you and I are part of that species.

  3. Hi Maurice – trying to respond to your response to me lol. But not sure I’m in the right comment box?

I think my understanding of the word “theodicy” is simply “the problem of evil”. So, your understanding of free-will, and Gods choosing not to intervene – is certainly “one of” the answers to evil and suffering!

I’m interested in the fallen-angel answers as well. That (for example) a mudslide might partly be caused by the fallen-angels who, even today, have influence.

I sent you an email about this as well – sorry for the multiple contact!

Thank you so much for your time, your articles, all your sharing.

    1. Hello Tamara

Thank you for reading my essay and for your second comment about the cause of natural disasters. I, myself, tend to think that God permits natural disasters because angels and humans are in revolt against God, but to be certain of my opinion, I looked up the Churches’ stand on it.

I found a very informative essay on that question on The Bob Jones Website. https://seminary.bju.edu/theology-in-3d/natural-disasters-and-new-testament-theology/#:~:text=There%20are%20several%20references%20to,%3B%20Mark%2013%3A8).

This is not a Catholic Website. It is a conservative Christian website. Billy Graham cooperated with this website during his life time. Here is a partial quote of what they say:
“How do we live, then, in the fact of present hardships because we are living on a groaning earth? We live, the New Testament teaches, in anticipation of that great day when the earth will be released from its futility. As the Scriptures teach, we endure in hope. We bear patiently, by God’s grace, the burdens of a world under judgment. For God knows that the temporary nature of our suffering in comparison to the eternal glory to follow will steel us against the storms. As Paul begins his brief discussion on the groaning of the world, we are urged to “consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us” (Rom 8:18). Even as a mother is able to endure the birth pains, in part because of the anticipation of the great joy to follow, so we suffer and endure with growing anticipation of our greatest joy.”

I found another answer in a Catholic Website: “If demons had the freedom to cause natural disasters, the whole world would fall into chaos. So, the short answer is no — demons cannot cause disasters and accidents at will. Why? Simply because God prevents them from doing so. Their full answer is here:

      https://spiritualdirection.com/2013/09/05/can-demons-cause-disasters-and-accidents
This website goes on to discuss exorcisms where devils certainly have a hand in suffering inflicted upon humans.

Also, I am of the opinion that there will very little, if any, natural disasters in God’s heavenly kingdom.

      Hope this helps.

      Sincerely,

      Maurice A. Williams

  4. I’m very interested in theodicy and the role of fallen angels in natural disaster. Maurice, would you argue that the fallen angels can “still” partially cause “natural” evil?

    I do believe in evolution….But that’s a discussion for another day! 🤗

    1. Hello Tamara,

Thank you for reading my article and thanks for the comment. Theodicy is a new word in my vocabulary. I had to look it up.

Of course, God is in full control of His universe, but He conferred onto angels and humans free will, by which we can obey Him or refuse to obey Him and do deeds that are against His will. If we do deeds against His will, those deeds have a bad effect on the world and on others.

For example, if we hate somebody and shoot that person, that person will die. If we are the head of a powerful nation armed with nuclear weapons and decide to launch a nuclear attack, that nation will perish. God does not want people murdered or nations annihilated, but He conferred angles and humans with free will, and He wants to see how willing we are to obey Him or disobey Him. If the Devil is opposed to certain things humans aspire to, He can cause obstruction to our efforts to achieve them.

This present life is where and when we display our fidelity to God without compulsion to obey. Anybody hurt or killed in this life will be brought back to life by God, and, if found innocent of evil deeds, will be brought into God’s heavenly kingdom of perfect peace and happiness where never a tear is shed.

All who refused to love God and obey Him (those who cause all the evil and suffering on Earth) will be judged and punished by God.

So, the actual present world is far different than what the people who thought up Theodicy thought. That’s why I never heard of Theodicy. It’s a pipe dream of those who think God has to rule by force over the wicked to keep them from harming the innocent.
God can rue by force. He is certainly powerful enough to do so, but He does not want to rule by force. Instead, He will consign all those who prove themselves defiant against God’s rule into punishment at the final judgement.

I like God’s plan better because God does not have to play policeman for all eternity. In the next life people and angels obey God of their own free will because they love God and they love everyone God loves and are loved by everyone in return. It does not get better than that, and what I’m saying here is absolutely true. It is exactly as God’s revelation reveals.

      Hope his clarifies my position.

      Sincerely,

      Maurice A. Williams
