Thank You, Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit, Pentecost, Evangelize, Red

Dear Holy Spirit,

Thank you so much for the fruits you give me. Charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, and chastity [CCC 1832]. I hope to savor them all.

I also thank you for the gifts that help me maintain the freshness of these fruits. Wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord [CCC 1831]. Truly, these gifts provide me the divine inspirations to follow the directions you give.

With your gifts and guidance, none of these beautiful fruits go to waste. Your fruits are perfections that you form in us “as the first fruits of eternal glory” [CCC 1832]. Please help me to share these fruits in my joys, works, and even in my sorrows with gratitude in my heart.

With Gratitude

The gifts and fruits you give fortify my well-being. Holy Spirit, please help me to be more grateful for the love, strength, and light you give to my soul. I must confess I often take you for granted, not always following your promptings. I know I should because your promptings keep me away from temptations.

Therefore, Holy Spirit, in unity with God the Father and the Son, may I always live in gratitude for your heavenly grace. May I always hold onto you. May I give myself in return for all you give to me, sharing with others what you share with me. How else can I express my loving gratitude for the sacrifice Christ made for the love of God and humanity?

Gift of Love

Behold this love! Christ gives himself—body, blood, soul and divinity—to us, sending forth the Spirit for the sake of our eternal life. “God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us” [Romans 5:5]. Truly, we see the fullness of this love at Pentecost.

How wonderful! At Pentecost the Holy Trinity is fully revealed. “Since that day, the Kingdom announced by Christ has been open to those who believe in him: in the humility of the flesh and in faith, they already share in the communion of the Holy Trinity” [CCC 732]. I pray I never reject our Lord’s promise of salvation by way of the Holy Trinity.

With our Lord’s promise in my heart, Holy Spirit, please guard my thoughts, words, and deeds so that they always reflect the loving goodness of God. In your compassion, protect me from my weaknesses. Help me to always be true to you Holy Spirit, God the Father, and the Son.

Prompt my heart and mind so that I always remember that the human body shares in the dignity of the image of God, animated by a spiritual soul. For it is “the whole human person that is intended to become, in the body of Christ, a temple of the Spirit” [CCC 364]. Therefore, may I always be worthy of the gifts and fruits of heaven.

Here I pray to be a true disciple of the Lord, always sharing the love of God. I pray to you Holy Spirit: Please animate my body and mind, heart and soul, always protecting the dignity of God’s image. Amen.
