Say ‘Sex’ Not ‘Gender’: Part I

Know, truth, lies,voting, signs

Nothing is more distorted from the truth these days and also attacking children in unprecedented numbers than the craze of so-called transgenderism. “Transgenderism” is not only about mentally confused people playing pretend, but it’s also about demanding the world play along. Sadly, too many adults have become manipulated or intimidated and won’t tell the truth and point out all the elephants in the room – namely, that “transgenderism” isn’t real, “gender identity” is a fake concept, and “sex change” is impossible.

It is a scientific fact that human beings are either male or female and thus that there are only two sexes. The exception is a small minority of human beings (0.018 percent of the population) who are born with physical disorders in which their observable sexual characteristics (e.g. a penis) do not develop in accord with their male or female chromosomes. The fact is there are only two sexes, determined at conception and matter-of-factly acknowledged at birth, as opposed to the current lie that sex is “assigned at birth.” Up until the 21st Century, 99% of humans agreed with this reality. But today’s popular culture – i.e., all of the entertainment industry, most of the news media and social media, the public educational system, and a large portion of big businesses’ marketing – decided to make a 180-degrees turn in recent years and reject reality.

Unlike sex, so-called gender identity is neither scientifically observable nor testable. The gender identity fad has become a faux-religious belief and both a social and political construct, which has a small percentage of people claiming to have irrational feelings and everyone else forced to believe there is truth in those feelings. There is no other sphere of human life where it is held that another person’s delusional self-perception must be accepted unquestioningly as real.

“Gender” used to solely refer to nouns in language. For example, in English, the word ‘boy’ is a masculine gender, so in a sentence it would read – “Has the boy finished HIS chores?” Many countries’ languages assign male, female, or neutered genders to their nouns, such as in German, nouns that end in -heit will be feminine, and in Spanish, most masculine words end with –o.

However, in recent generations, the word “gender” moved from the grammar lessons to the sex-ed lessons, and “gender” started replacing the word “sex.” This was in part done because some people felt more comfortable saying the g-word than the s-word, in part done because “sex” was becoming so tied to exclusively referring to “sexual acts,” and in part done because, unlike scientifically-proven “sex,” “gender” can be propagandized and manipulated to serve people’s preferences.

What cannot be manipulated is the word “sex.” There are two types of sex – men and women. They cannot change into the other. Conversely, the word “gender” when used outside of language/grammar is a state of mind, not a state of being. It is a set of personality beliefs and an ideological fantasy. This is why we should stop using the word “gender” when discussing humans. Words have a gender, but people have a sex. Whereas there are three genders in grammar – masculine, feminine, and neuter – there are two sexes in biology – male and female.

During his inauguration speech in the U.S. Capitol on January 20, President Donald Trump said:

I will end the government policy to socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life. As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders [sic]: male and female.

I attached the word ‘sic’ to Trump’s quote because it contains an error. Knowing that gender is a linguistic construction while sex is biological, the newly-sworn-in president made a mistake in his speech in saying “genders” instead of “sexes.” But I’ll forgive him for this since his executive order – named Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government – does indeed accurately explain that it will now be “the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes: male and female. These are sexes that are not changeable, and they are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality.”

Trump’s new directive also states that

‘sex’ shall refer to an individual’s immutable biological classification as either male or female…(and) is not a synonym for and does not include the concept of ‘gender identity’.

How refreshing to restore sanity to how the federal government will resume interpreting laws and conducting business as it returns to following what has always been known – that there is a biological reality of only two sexes, with male and female clearly being identifiable and definable.

The executive order goes on to note that

when the government fails to recognize the truth and treat self-identification as more important than biological sex, people no longer trust their government. They can no longer understand the words that their government is using, no longer trust the policies that their government is issuing.

Thus, this directive will remove from federal communications, policies, and documents/forms any reference to radical gender ideology.

Additionally, President Trump’s order contains much welcomed and needed instructions and directives such as:

  • Government agencies will cease pretending that men can be women and women can be men when enforcing laws that protect against sex discrimination.
  • Every agency and all Federal employees will use the term “sex” instead of “gender,” and government identification like passports and personnel records will reflect biological reality and not self-assessed gender identity.
  • Taxpayer funds will no longer be used for so-called gender-transition health care and the practice of housing men in women’s prisons and taxpayer funded “transition” for male prisoners will end.
  • The forced recitation of “preferred pronouns” will stop, with Americans’ First Amendment rights protected to recognize the biological and binary nature of sex in federal institutions and public schools.

The so-called transgender movement has brainwashed, coerced, and/or threatened much of society to go along with their detachment from reality, ala what happened to the people in the tale of “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” Fortunately, on day one of the new administration in the White House they put an end to all this fraud and nonsense that has creeped into federal government agencies in recent years. Now let’s hope this return to truth spreads to non-federal agencies and the wider culture.

Unfortunately, the President’s executive order does not mention one of the most horrific areas of transgender activism – so-called gender-affirming care for minors. There still needs to be a national call for stopping mentally-confused adolescents from being put on puberty-blocking drugs and given mutilating surgeries.

It has always been natural for teens and preteens during puberty to seek affirmation, identify, and attention due to raging hormones and puzzled attempts to understand their lives. However, it is not rational how in our current society these kids are being indoctrinated to believe their questions on their identity can be answered by supposing they were assigned the wrong sex at birth, that they are a different “gender” than the one God gave them, and that they can expect others to refer to them by their opposite/incorrect pronouns.

It is disheartening that so many children are being allured to consider transgenderism as they are undergoing the common psychological stress associated with puberty, and it is downright evil that ultra-progressive parents and immoral medical professionals are enabling boys and girls to believe their dysphoria is real, to the point of drugging and/or mutilating them.

In Part 2 of “Say ‘Sex’ Not ‘Gender’,” I will explain how it is misplaced-compassion, not authentic compassion, for society to capitulate to the delusion that one can change one’s sex, and I will address what parents can do to make sure their children do not fall for the propaganda regarding so-called transgenderism.

  2. Gender brings to mind the title of the first book of the Bible, Genesis. God created humans male or female. Does the word, sex appear in the creation account? Think genes. Think genetics. Think to generate. Think generations.

Using the word, sex, removes God from the equation.

    1. Se,
I am flabbergasted at how you grasp at straws to make a ridiculous point.
Let me use your logic and see how it goes….

“Sex” brings to mind the title of the books of (p)Salms.
      (p)Salm 100:3 reads:
“Know that the Lord is God! It is he that made us, and we are his.”
Using the word “sex” adds God to the equation.

Wow! Your logic works! Thanks for the advice on how to read the Bible and interpret Scripture.

Having worked in the field of MH and the eerie world of multiple split personalities, I find it true to hold on to the ‘God made them (bodies) male and female’ while truly understanding how psychophysical dualism conceives experienced reality to be invalid in the world of mind and matter. The existence and character of experiences depend on the
occurrence of percipient events and therefore upon the person which has the experience. And it is only in relation to a given person that the object known (their body) possess the character exhibited by the information. The first American gender switch – Christine Jorgensen- took place in 1952. The problem with definitive essays occurs when the author’s mind is closed to all possibilities.

  5. Susanne,
But God DID teach on the subject when he reaffirmed, “Male and female He created them.”

As for the “mind your own business” type of Christianity you follow, I’m assuming you don’t speak out against slavery or child porn then? Christ overturned the tables in the temple, didn’t He?

    1. Jesus was answering a question about divorce and keeping promises. Your quote is out of context.

The main problem with your essay is not the lack of scriptural support but ignorance of the issue. You seem to get your news only from people who agree with you and you seem to be saying that transgenderism is something liberal adults are forcing on teenagers. This is the opposite of the truth. My children (in their 20’s now) know a fair number of transgender young people and it was a difficult decision for them to “come out” knowing how their parents would react.

    2. That is a statement of fact from the creation story of the Jewish people, not a prescriptive command of God like “do onto others”. Christ overturned tables in the Temple, His Father’s house. That also isn’t a prescriptive command that I should do likewise. As far as slavery or pornography, I also follow the command of Jesus to render unto Caesar and follow the laws of the place I live.

  6. Jesus said nothing at all about the topic, and the other mentions of it in the Bible are either misogynist or in the service of subjugating women as either inferior or subservient to men.

These are changing times and it will be interesting to see how it shakes out. I am not surprised by the usual utter refusal here to understand what is happening. It’s almost as if you’re afraid of what you might find. Praising an ignorant man like Trump is par for the course.

    1. What is it…? If the Bible doesn’t have a quote from Jesus on a subject then it’s not worth worrying about…or…the Bible is flawed as it contains beliefs that are erroneous? Your first paragraph wants to have it both ways.

As for your second paragraph, of course I understand what’s happening. I am choosing to live in the world but not of the world, just as Jesus asks of us.

St. Paul and our Catholic tradition has understood “the world” in the same manner – as the forces that lead us away from God:

“If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the universe, why do you live as if you still belonged to the world?. . . .If you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. . . .Put to death, therefore, whatever in you is earthly: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry). On account of these the wrath of God is coming on those who are disobedient.”
      (Colossians 2:20, 3:1-3 and 5)

    2. I agree with your point that if God Incarnate didn’t choose to teach on a subject, it must be of very little importance to our salvation. I prefer to spend my limited time on Earth perfecting myself in the ways God asked of me, for instance “doing unto others”. As I wouldn’t want to live in a world where my fellow man is always peeking under my clothes to see if my government ID confirms what they think it should be, I won’t do that to others. Or, in the immortal words of Governor Tim Walsh, “mind your own business”.

    3. Capt,
You never explained to me how you can think the Bible is flawed and at the same time say that the only things important to follow are what Jesus was quoted saying in the Bible.

As for being out of context, are you saying Jesus only believes that God created just two sexes – male and female – when it comes to marriage, but that for other topics He believes there are more than two sexes?

And as for “scriptural support,” we can agree shooting up heroin is wrong or shooting photos of your naked kid to sell to a child pornographer is wrong without a specific Bible verse to back us up, correct?

Finally, I didn’t say “liberal adults were forcing transgenderism” on kids. I said kids are being allured and propagandized to consider transgenderism as the “solution” to the common psychological stress associated with puberty. This is coming largely from social media sites the kids frequent where adult activists and sometimes other teens are spreading the misinformation. Of course, when it comes to so-called trans surgeries, it is typically the parent and doctor who have to agree in order for a minor to be mutilated. (Again, Jesus doesn’t address surgeries in the Bible so not sure if you’ll agree here either.)

You might want to read more from Ryan Anderson (https://www.ncregister.com/interview/ryan-anderson-on-gender-ideology-and-taking-on-the-woke-elite-christian-vision-counters-the-lies) and Abigail Shrier (https://manhattan.institute/book/irreversible-damage).

    4. Underage gender identity medication and surgery is a real issue. However yours is a wider attack on transgenderism in general.

Jesus also told us to “hate our parents” and to abandon our loved ones to follow Him. And that is a clearer teaching than that out-of-context phrase. Do you believe that? We all have to make choices as to how we take things He said. I do think the Chuch can spend its time on other issues.
