Watch Out for The Millstone – Do Not Be Addicted to Fear

Advent

Are you afraid to speak up against the evil in the culture today? My Soul, Mind and Body Summer Series ‘Conquer Addictions and Bad Habits’ is in full swing on Relevant Radio and Iowa Catholic Radio Network and one of the things we discuss is our addiction to emotions. Now is not the time to be fearful, God put us here for such a time as this. I dread to think of how many people are silent and therefore are willingly putting the millstone around their necks.

He said to his disciples, “Things that cause sin will inevitably occur, but woe to the person through whom they occur. It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin (Luke 17:2).

Can You Speak Against Sin if You Do Not Pray?

I hate to be so blunt, but if you do not have a prayer life, the Holy Spirit struggles to work through you. In order to evangelize and be a disciple, which is our mission as Jesus’ followers, we must pray. I have many articles, youtube videos and my own 40-day video prayer course to help you with this non-negotiable part of the Christian walk. The purpose of this article is not to teach you how to pray but to use prayer as your weapon as you battle the culture war you are in, whether you know you are in it or not.

If you pray, you will be certainly saved; if you do not pray, you will be certainly damned (St. Alphonsus Liguori).

I used to be afraid to share my own sins with the world for fear of the judgement of others. Back in 2019, I prayed for detachment, and I was given the grace to speak about my marijuana and pornography addiction freely without concern about what people thought of me. I was also glorifying God and His miracles in my life fulfilling my ministry. God put on my heart, “If only one soul seeks my healing, you are a good and faithful servant,” or something like that.

Then came 2020 and God opened my eyes to the truth of the evil in this world. While I knew there was good and evil, God and Satan, I had no idea to what extent. I had a rough time discerning the information I was consuming and went in and out of denial. If I had no prayer life, I would have been absolutely lost and spun into a world of fear and anxiety.

I have been able to accept the hard truths of what is going on in the world and to speak up about all of them. I have no fear and I owe that to the grace of God. I am now joyful when I am persecuted – the feeling of peace I cannot explain. My friends and family say they are ‘in awe’ of my courage. It’s not me, God gave it to me because courage begets courage. It’s human nature to see others and want to imitate virtuous characteristics. Is God pulling at your heart right now, do you feel courage pumping through your soul?

Over the past few years, God has brought evil into the light, surely you can see it. If you wonder what I am talking about then pray for God’s Wisdom confidently – The Bible says He will give it to you generously.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and he will be given it. But he should ask in faith, not doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed about by the wind (James 1:5-6).

Pray for detachment from the world. Learn deliverance prayers and cast out the spirits who fill you with fear, anxiety and a dis-ordered concern about what the world will think of you when you speak against sin. Remind yourself that one day you will see Jesus face-to-face and must account for all you did and did NOT do. Pray to rejoice when persecution comes and to rest in God’s peace that you are being His hands, feet and voice here on earth. He is counting on you. Will you allow a little blow-back, labeling and the cancel-culture to silence you?

Live for the Audience of One

It is time to be courageous and to serve God as He commands in the Bible. While this article are my words – there is nothing more powerful than God speaking to us in His Words. Here are just a few of the hundreds of verses that we should take into our hearts.

So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, it is a sin (James 4:17).

Take no part in the fruitless works of darkness; rather expose them ( Epheisians 5:11 ).Read the entire section on “Duty to Live In The Light” verses 6-20) https://bible.usccb.org/bible/ephesians/5

If I say to the wicked, You shall surely die—and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade the wicked from their evil conduct in order to save their lives—then they shall die for their sin, but I will hold you responsible for their blood. If, however, you warn the wicked and they still do not turn from their wickedness and evil conduct, they shall die for their sin, but you shall save your life (Ezekiel 3:18-19).

Our solemn charge:
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingly power: proclaim the word; be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient; convince, reprimand, encourage through all patience and teaching. For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine but, following their own desires and insatiable curiosity, will accumulate teachers and will stop listening to the truth and will be diverted to myths. But you, be self-possessed in all circumstances; put up with hardship; perform the work of an evangelist; fulfill your ministry (2Timothy 4:1-5).

It Is Not a Choice – It Is Our Mission

If you are a true believer in Jesus, then you must act. We are called out of this world, to be different, to fight the culture and to help bring people to heaven by sharing The Gospel.

How did the saints do it? They turned to Jesus and Mary to help them, and I believe the entire Holy Army when they shared The Good News with those who did not want to hear it. Remember, by sharing God’s Word, we are truly loving people. There is nothing more loving than helping someone get to heaven.

How you do this is unique to you and those in your sphere of influence. You can speak directly to someone, share podcasts, forward videos and other bits of information calling out darkness or sharing truth. Let’s not forget to pray for those who are being deceived and crank up the sacrifices – for the love of Jesus, for the reparation of sinners and the reparation of those who are indifferent to Our Blessed Mother.

I have many videos to help with Evangelizing and ways to fight the Spiritual Battle. I recently put a video together to share the Evil Roots of the Trans-Agenda but it was BLOCKED from Facebook. Perhaps this is a video you can help share? Since my Summer Series aired, many have reached out for consultations and Faith Coaching – we all need help on the journey.

As you can see, this is your very own soul at stake. If you are silent, you are complicit. The only way to win is to stop being afraid of the cultural blowback through prayer and the grace of God. It only takes one time for you to ‘step out’ as His Child. Do not be Lot’s wife and look back, keep speaking, let the negative feedback pass by you – put your head into the Sacred Heart of Jesus and rest on His shoulder like St. John. “Jesus, I Trust in You.”

Jesus and Mary are here to help you fulfill your ministry for your salvation. Nobody wants you to be brave and courageous in this spiritual and cultural war more than the two who brought salvation to the world themselves. With God, you can do anything!

Be strong and steadfast; have no fear or dread of them, for it is the LORD, your God, who marches with you; he will never fail you or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).

  2. Thank you for this article. It feels like we are at a crossroads spiritually. It’s like a collective kairos moment, where the stakes are high and where we need to decide for Christ or for the culture. Silence implies consent, even if it is due to fear. Catholics, stop being afraid. Speak up. Courage is contagious.

    1. AMEN, AMEN! Courage does bring on courage – and all we have to do is share it on all kinds of soil (rocky, choked, fertile) and watch God grow truth. Thanks for chiming in, hope you share this because it’s more than just what is right, it’s our salvation. God bless you, Gary!
