Those Wicked Folks on the Far Left

causality, miracle, creation, God, morality, man

Jesus Christ said some pretty startling things in His time here on earth.  For example, telling people to “Love your enemies” when their enemies are suppressing them is a startling statement.  Even many today still find this difficult.

Jesus also said at the end of the world God will hold final judgement of everyone God created, even the fallen angels. But how does one explain this to someone uninstructed in truth?

There are also many historical events that show God’s intervention in the affairs of humans.  Many of the atheistic intellectual elites (AIE) on the far left, however, say these are purely chance events.  But I think God does intervene and He was serious when He told us about the final judgment.

Chastisements

We can get an idea of how fast God can judge when he asked why Adam and Eve were hiding after they sinned. “So, you did eat the fruit I told you not to eat!” Or in the case of  Belshazzar when he and his guests saw “Mene, Tekel, and Peres” written on the wall. Belshazzar’s enemies killed him that night, and Darius the Mede took over his kingdom.

Or take the rulers of Egypt during the Exodus. God finally told the Egyptian Pharaoh to release His people. Pharaoh refused, so the entire Egyptian army drowned in the sea.

After the conquest of Samaria, Hezekiah, the leader of the Jews, was undecided whether to pay tribute to the Assyrian empire or to Egypt. He chose Egypt. Sennacherib, the king of Assyria threatened to send an army to destroy he Jewish people. Hezekiah panicked and begged God for protection.  Isaiah told Hezekiah that the Lord heard his prayer and will take care of it.

Sennacherib sent a 185,000-man army, all mounted on horses, to Jerusalem. When they arrived , they encamped overnight to make conquest in the morning. When they did not show up, Hezekiah sent men to investigate.  They found the entire Assyrian army dead, along with all their mounts (2 Kings 19:35).

Many of the AIE left do not believe God would do this. They think the army succumbed to a plague born by infected mice. The English poet, George Gordon Lord Byron, thinks God (as I also think) sent a single angle to kill them. He says as much in his poem, The Destruction of Sennacherib.

In Modern Times

Communism is full of wickedness and evil, but God offered a remedy at Fatima. Unbelievably, it seems that some did not truly believe God and failed to make the necessary consecration in time.

Around the same time, the Germans tried to create a new world order with the elimination of the Jews and the inauguration of a new German Empire, the Third Reich.  But God did not approve of this slaughter of the Jews.   He soon destroyed the new German Empire.

Today our wicked world slaughters the unborn without any endorsement by God. What do you think is going to happen to our wicked world ?

In the Beginning

The AIE try to discredit just about everything God revealed in Genesis. But Pope St. John Paul II defined the churches position on the origin of man.

. . . the theories of evolution which, because of the philosophies which inspire them, regard the spirit either as emerging from the forces of living matter, or as a simple epiphenomenon of that matter, are incompatible with the truth about man. They are therefore unable to serve as the basis for the dignity of the human person.

God was very clear in Genesis that God created man special from the dust of the Earth and He created Eve from a rib of Adam. It doesn’t matter how God described His methods, the revelation is that there is only one genome in Adam and Eve. Eve did not bring in a second genome with her feminine nature.

Contrary to the opinions of science, both Adam and Eve were created special.  The first humans were not brute animals created millions of years ago.  They did not need to learn speech and  acquire human skills in a long process of evolution. Both Adam and Eve were able to speak as soon as they were created, and they were fully human when they were created.

Science

Scientists are constantly introducing new humans to us, but there is only one human species: Homo sapiens. While I am not an anthropologist, I do at least know the difference between male and female.  But it seems the American Anthropological Association does not.

I think the “new humans” are non-human anthropoid apes, like Homo africanus, Homo Heidelberg, etc. I predict in the not-too-distant future scientists will themselves recognize and substantially revise their thoughts on human evolution.

Actually, in my opinion, man should be classified into a new kingdom, that of physical humans with spiritual souls.  There is no kingdom in taxonomy that depicts man with spiritual souls – a big omission for science.

Explaining human origins

Our secular scientists like to insist that the universe started millions of years ago.  But they  cannot explain how human origin began in a swamp of water somewhere.  They say the heat of the sun provided energy and various chemicals in the water organized into the beginnings of intelligent life on Earth.  How believable is this?  And they constantly announce newly discovered species.

I think the theory of evolution is on the threshold of being overturned because there is no evidence showing existing animals morphing into new species. What scientists are seeing is that the genes determining what a species is are morphing due to random mutations of the genetic code.

It’s not hard to see the result of this. Simply stated: God provides the Genetic code, and new species develop from the genetic code. Only God can manipulate the genetic code. Only God can cause the appearance of new species.

Genesis also describes the history of human life on earth. From my study of history, it seems to have started about 7,000 to 10,000 years ago.  God has made us what we are.

Failures of Science

There was a race of antediluvian people that became so wicked that God decided to destroy all of them in a worldwide flood. Why haven’t our scientists found skeletal remains of these people or identified cities they built?

The Hebrew people spent a long time in Egypt, approximately four hundred years. Yet our scientists cannot find any historical evidence of their presence. I think scientists have placed their presence in the wrong time period and are searching the wrong strata.

There is an English Egyptologist, David Rohl, who spent his been career studying this problem. He found evidence that Hebrews were indeed living in Egypt but in a different age than what is accepted by Egyptologists.

Scientists cannot find any period of time where God created the human race, when the Exodus occurred, or when Jericho was destroyed by Joshua and the Jews. And for years scientists said the city of Sodom was a myth. This finally changed in 2021.  It seems “geologist Sid Mitra at East Carolina University in the US and colleagues have come up with an explanation of where Sodom was and what happened to the city.”

Still, it seems to me that not too many scientists really want to confirm any dates in the Bible.

Conclusions

Doesn’t my mixture of facts and speculation make the Bible seem more believable than the very much defective stories given by the AIE about God and how God created the world and administers it?  The AIE do not believe the Bible is the word of God, so why would anybody believe what they have to say about the Bible?

I could be wrong, but I think we are fast approaching the great watershed of history where God will separate all evil from good. The righteous will enter God’s heavenly kingdom. And evildoers will be punished.

Yet some people still insist that science has the final word.

  1. Maurice, straight and to the point. Less is more indeed. A breath of fresh air in the intellectual, ego-driven jungle.

  2. As a retired physicist who is also a believing Catholic, I can only say that you have not provided a good critique of what science can and not say about our universe, its origins, how it works, and about the origin of life and homo sapiens. I recommend Fr. Spitzer’s new book, “Science at the Doorstep Review,” for a comprehensive treatise on what science can and does say about creation, about the soul and humans as a special creation by God.

283 The question about the origins of the world and of man has been the object of many scientific studies which have SPLENDEDLY enriched our knowledge of the age and dimensions of the cosmos, the development of life-forms and the appearance of man.

    Thanks for the link.

Maurice, the CC does not require anyone to BELIEVE in the Genesis story as a matter of
tradition or dogma. What’s so strange is that these accounts are part of the ‘readings’ on
an ongoing rotation. Now why would the CC read something at mass no one is required to believe?

      Hello An Ordinary Papist.

Thank you for reading my article and thanks for the comment. I was writing about things that God requires everybody to believe because it concerns why God created the world and why everybody must believe it. Sometimes it is difficult to believe what God revealed because many of us would have difficulty believing it. But we must believe God. Heaven awaits those who believe God; eternal punishment awaits those who refuse to believe God.

Christ founded the Catholic Church to explain what God revealed and sent the Holy Spirit to help those who have difficulty believing.

  6. An interesting website to peruse is “The Kolbe Center for the study of Creation”. I have mixed views on the subject and it takes quite a bit of reading. That said, a fascinating topic.

  7. You don’t actually know any of these wicked people, have never conversed with them, and more importantly, have made no attempt to see what their complaints are.

    1. Hello Captcrisis.

Nor do I know any of the candidates running for office., never conversed with them, but I have made an attempt to see what their complaints are. You should do thee same with God and His church.

Thanks for reading my article and for the comment.

      Sincerely,

      Maurice A. Williams
