Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus

Jesus Christ, Love, Sacred Heart

On July 29th, 2022, I wrote my first handwritten letter to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in a blue prayer journal that my sister bought me for my last birthday. In this article, I’ve included several of the letters that I have written to Jesus in the hope of growing closer to Him. I hope these letters inspire you to write your own letter to Jesus and discover what He wants to tell you and unveil to you about yourself.

Letter One

Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus,

Every time I would go to Mass in recent times, when the chalice was raised for Consecration, I would pray, “Wash over me, Jesus. Make me a new person in You.” And, you have done that, Lord Jesus. I have felt so at peace that I wish all souls can feel this peace. There is nothing like feeling like a whole new person in Christ.

Sacred Heart, only you can fill the hole in our hearts. Please never let me, my family, and friends try to fill the hole in our hearts with anything evil or worldly. Let us only seek the beautiful face of You, Jesus.

You have conquered the Devil, the world, and all evil. So when I am lost, I only need to look at Your Most Sacred Heart which holds the key to my heart and all its longings and desires. I love you so much, Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Letter Four

Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus,

There is a quote by St. Therese of Lisieux where she says, “The world’s Thy ship and not Thy home.” This is a good reminder that I will never be fully satisfied here. Only seeing God face to face will bring me the utmost joy.

Today, I am starting a new chapter in my life. In this new chapter, I will be moving forward. I want every moment to be holy and inspired by the Holy Spirit.

I trust in You, Sacred Heart of Jesus. Never let me fall off the right path. Do not let me become distracted from following Your Most Holy Will.

Be with me, Lord. Hold onto my heart.

Letter Five

Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus,

It is such a rewarding feeling to know that I have helped in some way. Or to be more precise, God gives me a saintly friend and I share that knowledge with my fellow neighbor. Thereafter, my fellow neighbor takes this knowledge of a saint to heart and becomes truly inspired in their own spiritual life. I find this to be a miracle, and how beautiful life is because of them.

Writing has always been one of my passions and I am so thankful I am able to share the Gospel message of Jesus in my own way through Catholic Stand. Thank you, Saint Anthony of Padua, for interceding for me in receiving this position.

Another thing I want to mention is I long for more. I long to know You, Jesus, more. There is so much I want to do for You, Jesus. Although I always try to take You with me, Lord, my heart is bursting with ambition. Give me patience, Jesus. I trust in Your timing. Even if I have to wait a long while, I know Your Most Holy Will will bring the best outcome.

Letter Fourteen

Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus,

Lead me in the right direction. Breathe Your Holy Spirit into my soul. Give me the words to speak and preach Your Most Holy Name, Jesus. Jesus Christ, I trust in You.

“Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me; still, not my will but yours be done.” Luke 22:42

Letter Eighteen

Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus,

I like what my dad just told me yesterday. When the earth turns away from the sun, you are placed in darkness. However, when you face the sun your life is full of light. Similarly, if you turn away from the Son of God, everything will become dark and full of sin and worldliness. On the other hand, you will be filled with Christ’s light, peace, and joy, if you face Him. I thought this was such a beautiful reflection, Lord Jesus. It reminds me of the Scripture verse:

“Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” John 8:12

As you can see, I have not included all of my letters in this article, as some are rather too personal to share. I do encourage my readers again, however, to journal with Jesus and see where this path leads you. You may find yourself one step or even a mile closer to the home of God’s heavenly heart.

  2. Diana,
Thank you for sharing your lovely letters to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Reading your heartfelt letters brought much joy to my heart! Your trust in Jesus and His Holy Will for your life is admirable and inspiring. Journaling is a wonderful way to express one’s inner most thoughts. One of the benefits of penning one’s thoughts is that they are able to be reviewed and reflected upon even at a later point in time. What a beautiful way to grow closer in relationship to our Lord! I found it most interesting that your article was published on the feast day of St. Padre Pio (September 23rd), who is one of my favorite saints. He too had a devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, praying the “Efficacious Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus” daily for all of his prayer intentions. Thank you again, Diana!
