The Promises of Divine Mercy

(On October 5, 2022, I wrote “Divine Mercy in Our Souls” for Catholic Stand.  This is a continuation of my thoughts on Divine Mercy.)

Divine Mercy is a tremendous gift from God.  It is undeserved and unmerited divine grace.  One way of thinking about it is as an expression of parents’ love for their children.  The children have not “earned” that love or deserved it, or even asked for it.  Parents’ love for their children comes at birth and is a completely free gift.  This is but a shadow of the incredible and indescribable love of God for us.  This love is transforming and will change everything about one’s life and how you see the world.

Divine Mercy Promises

There are no words to describe the importance of the Divine Mercy promises made by Our Lord.  In this world of sin and chaos, with so many people in complete darkness, the promises of Divine Mercy are one of the most critical and important truths to spread throughout the world!

That was the message that God gave to me in three dreams.  It is the reason my ministry, Spirit Filled Hearts, presented conference after conference with the hope of creating Divine Mercy apostles and evangelists.  At Spirit Filled Hearts Ministry, it is the most important calling. The reason?  Souls for Christ!  If you receive God’s Divine Mercy and truly are transformed by His love, you will be with the Lord forever in heaven!

When you read the Diary of St. Faustina, you find promise after promise.  One of the most important promises and realities is for those who say the chaplet at the hour of death will receive mercy.  Priests are to recommend it to sinners “as a last hope.”

Jesus tells us, that “even the most hardened sinner, if he recites this chaplet, even once, will receive grace from My Infinite Mercy.  I want the whole world to know My Infinite Mercy.  I want to give unimaginable graces to those who trust in my Mercy.”

Read this over and over!  Let the words and promises sink into your heart and soul!

A Great Responsibility

My brothers and sisters, we have great responsibility to pray the Divine Mercy chaplet for our loved ones, relatives, friends, and everyone God puts in our heart.

What is the promise?  “When they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person not as the just judge but as the Merciful Savior.”

In the Dairy of St. Faustina, number 811, we learn how God’s anger is placated: “At the hour of death, I defend as My own glory every soul that will say this chaplet; or when others say it for a dying person, the pardon is the same.”

Jesus further says, “Unfathomable mercy envelops the soul, and the very depths of My tender mercy are moved for the sake of the sorrowful passion of my Son.”

Are you feeling little or no hope about the future?  In section 1485 Jesus tells us, “My mercy is greater than your sins and those of the entire world.”

Yet another incredible promise is found in 1540: “All those souls who will glorify My mercy and spread its worship, encouraging others to trust in My mercy, will not experience terror at the hour of death.  My mercy will shield them in that final battle.”

Do you want Jesus shielding you at the hour of death?  Make sure someone, if not you, is praying the Divine Mercy chaplet.  It is beyond important.

We find another promise in number 1541: “When hardened sinners say it, I will fill their souls with peace, and the hour of their death will be a happy one … When they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge but as a merciful Savior.”

The Hour of Mercy

Please read this next promise and implement it daily whenever possible (1320):

At three o’clock, implore My mercy, especially for poor sinner; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of agony.  This is the hour of great mercy for the whole world.  I will allow you to enter into My mortal sorrow.  In this hour I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion.

Try to make a habit of saying the Divine Mercy chaplet at 3 p.m. whenever possible but, most of all, say it daily.

Every house, office and where ever else is appropriate must have an image of the merciful Jesus.  Jesus appeared to St. Faustina and was very specific (47): “Paint an image according to the pattern you see, with the signature; Jesus, I trust in You.  I desire that this image be venerated, first in your chapel, and then throughout the world.”

He adds: “I promise that the soul that will venerate this image will not perish.  I also promise victory over its enemies already here on earth, especially at the hour of death.  I Myself will defend it as My own glory.” (48), (299, 570, 742).

The Feast of Mercy

How important is the Feast of Divine Mercy?  Well, Pope St. John Paul II felt it was so important that he put it in the Church calendar on the first Sunday after Easter, as requested by Jesus in the Diary.  Jesus tells us:

I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners.  On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open.  I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the Fount of My Mercy.  The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment.  On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened.  Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet.  My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity.  Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy.  Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity.  The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness.  It is my desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter.  Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy. (300, 570, 699, 965, 998).

I pray and plead with you to take this seriously.  Turn to Jesus and His Mercy to find peace and eternal salvation.  You will never regret it!

God loves you so much!  He gives you His Divine Mercy for all of eternity.  Embrace it!
