God Brings the Brand New

It is true that sometimes we might get bogged down by this world’s disappointments and challenges that we face in this life. But it is also true that God tells us so many times in our lives that He is the God of the brand new. He will bring new possibilities in our way even when the door closes on us. This is found in Sacred Scripture.

See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? (Isaiah 43:19) The New American Bible.

For instance, in relationships we may find someone we particularly like and grow rather attached to only to find God ending the relationship when things seemed like they were going well. We may wonder why? We must understand and accept the fact that God works in mysterious ways and sometimes what breaks our hearts will make our love even stronger for the one God has ultimately prepared us for. We must always trust in God’s loving plans for us. This is even stated in Sacred Scripture.

For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare, not for woe! plans to give you a future full of hope. When you call me, when you go to pray to me, I will listen to you. When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:11-13).

However, I think it is worth mentioning that in order for our worldly desires to work out, we must indeed put God first in our lives. We should pray and discern God’s will, asking Him in what capacity can I serve Christ’s church? Whether it is through volunteering or offering up all you do for your family for their salvation, we should discover what God is specifically calling each one of us to do. Then and only then, will the rest of the “details” start to unravel before us. God says this in these Sacred Scripture verses.

‘But seek first the kingdom (of God) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides’ (Matthew 6:33).

Know that the Lord works wonders for his faithful one; the Lord hears when I call out to him” (Psalm 4:4).

Speaking of new beginnings, try to put God first in your life by making Him the first thoughts of your day. As Saint John Vianney said,

We must take great care never to do anything before having said our morning prayers… The Devil once declared that if he could have the first moment of the day, he was sure of all the rest.

I have copied common Catholic morning offerings you can pray. I suggest making morning prayer a habit. Even just spending as little as five minutes of your time with the Lord each morning will do wonders for the soul.

What is so magnificent about God is that because He loves you so much, He wants to have a relationship with you. He wants to shower all His graces over you and give you His peace. The thing is, He will never force a relationship with you, but He quietly knocks on the door of your heart everyday longing to be invited to your home there. Will you let him in? Will you receive the most loving guest you could ever receive who made you, died for you, and opened the gates of Heaven for you?

So, I suggest as you pray these morning offerings reflect on this love God has for you and that He brought you to a new beautiful day. Reflect on this abundant love for you and trust in the promise of each new day He brings.

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for the salvation of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father this month.

Amen.

O my God, I offer Thee all my actions of this day for the intentions and for the glory of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I desire to sanctify every beat of my heart, my every thought, my simplest works, by uniting them to His infinite merits; and I wish to make reparation for my sins by casting them into the furnace of His Merciful Love.

O my God, I ask of Thee for myself and for those whom I hold dear, the grace to fulfill perfectly Thy Holy Will, to accept for love of Thee the joys and sorrows of this passing life, so that we may one day be united together in heaven for all Eternity. Amen (St. Therese of Lisieux).

All in all, it is important to remember, whether you are in a relationship rut or stuck in any other situation trying to find hope in a matter very close to your heart, God has a pathway of blessings He wants to take you on. Never give up hope. For we know the world becomes its darkest before the sun emerges over the horizon: a new day filled with endless possibilities for hope, love, peace, and eternal happiness.
